HBO's best: True Blood features Alexander Skarsgard as a vampire.

Let's face it: Unless you fall into the Game of Thrones fan base, HBO hasn't given you many series reasons of late to renew your subscription. Well, here's a great one: the return of the network's best show -- a violent, sexy, humorous, horror-romance romp that touches almost all the entertainment bases. And if you want to know what's up this season, all you need is this preview line from Sookie: "Oh, great. Now I have to deal with witches?"

Can't wait, Sookie, honey.

True Blood First Look: Season 4′s Vamps Unite



Much has been made about True Blood‘s upcoming fourth season being one big witchapalooza, but what about the vamps?! Yep, they’re still around — and in the throes of a massive PR campaign to repair their tarnished image in the wake of all that Season 3 nastiness.

Leading the charge will be vampire mouthpiece Nan Flanagain, played by newly series regular-ed Jessica Tuck, pictured below holding court with fellow full-time Blood suckers Stephen Moyer (Bill), Kristin Bauer (Pam), Alexander Skarsgård (Eric) and Deborah Ann Woll (Jessica). “We’re living in a post-Russell Edgington world everyone,” Nan reminds her flock in the June 26 premiere, “and we win back the human public one smile at a time.”

But the road to redemption will be a bumpy one, according to executive producer Alan Ball, who reveals that Marnie Stonebrook — the spiritual medium character played by Fiona Shaw — will prove to be the vampire community’s biggest threat. Teases Ball: “She is going to discover a way to have power over them.”

Really? Are they trying to get people to remember the books as it's being shown? All of season 2 and 3 I screamed at the tv when they did something totally out of character from the books..Eric throwing Sookie into the basement, come on!. And now, for Book 4 of all books, they're looking for us to make a book connection?!? Alan Ball better have some good stuff coming our way this year!

And now, for Book 4 of all books, they're looking for us to make a book connection?!? Alan Ball better have some good stuff coming our way this year!

Well, I first watched the 3 Seasons and then read the books. So I kind of come from the wrong side.
I do think it was mean, to deprive Eric in so many ways and give Bill the credit for it... Longshadow...
And they did it again in 402. But all in all I love the series over the books.
But all 3 Seasons center on the main story line of the books plus extra, plus other. I like it. They stay really close, if you compare to vamp. diaries or others.
So I do think they are doing a good job, and you can draw a lot of connections to the books. they just don't heart eric as much as the books.
