Alexander Skarsgard talks about vampires, Moomin and his Family.

Eric Northman is way the coolest vampire out of the current wave: Always calm except when the blood of his victims ruins his hairstyle.
The blond giant in the U.S. series “True Blood” (the third season airs on Nov. 4, Thursdays at 8:15 PM on SyFy) twisted the heroine Sookie Stackhouse’s head. Hard to believe that Alexander Skarsgard will be the one who plays the cool villain: The 34-year-old Swede is more like a two-meter puppy than a nasty bloodsucker. Although his voice sounds very rough after half a day full of interviews he is still willing to tell is about his role, his family and about shooting with guts (literally).

msn: You not only play the role of the ancient Viking-Vampire Eric, but you have given your voice for the movie “Moomins and the Comet chase”.
Alexander Skarsgard: (smiles) That’s right. And I am both, Eric and the Moomin.

“Lykkelig over nakenscener”

Los Angeles (VG)
As opposed to Stephen Moyer who plays Bill in True Blood, Alexander Skarsgård (33) has never objected to nude scenes.
Not that one would think it was any problem for co-actors Stephen Moyer or Anna Paquin, after the new edition of Rolling Stone was released. All there are naked there, smeared in blood.
The creator of the series, Alan Ball, likes the picture a lot. He does not understand the prude vampire stories like Stephanie Meyer`s Twilight series.
- To me vampires are sex, he says to the magazine.

Nude scenes
And when VG meets the tall, blonde, Swedish Alexander who oozes of sex in the role as Eric Northman, he explains:
- Nudity has never been a problem for me and it`s totally fine as long as it fits the show. You understand that I`m obviously thrilled about doing it if you notice how often it happens in the series. It wasn`t even hard in the beginning because I`ve been naked before, Alexander Skarsgård smiles and refuses to comment on the rumors about a love scene with a werewolf in the series.
No one talked about sex when Stephen Moyer (Bill Compton) grew up and he tells VG that nudity was hard in the beginning.
- I`m from a small village and it wasn`t like in Scandinavia where they have sex education in school. No one talked about it anywhere. But now we`re so used to dropping out clothes in the show that everyone is completely relaxed and not as reserved as in the first season. This is supposed to be sexy and we have to tell the story the best way we can. Read the rest of this entry »

Puss had it’s official premiere last night at the Rigoletto Theatre in Stockholm.  Alex and Gustaf were both in attendance.

Interview on SVT:

Alex in clips of Puss from Aftonbladet (starting at about 1:45):

And there are some photos in our gallery.

Our own MissSwan had the fortune to meet Alex and have her picture taken with him.  She said he was very kind to the fans, even coming back for photos.

Thank you to Lotti, MissSwan, and Santress.

Alexander was kind enough to answer a few questions for us via e-mail.

FROM ALEXANDER:

Hockey and Football

What’s your favorite hockey team? You’ve mentioned both Luleå and Bajen, so it would be great if you could clear that up. Did you ever play the sport?  If so, what position?

Hammarby (Bajen) will always be #1 for me, in both football and hockey. I shot a couple of movies up in Luleå years ago and got to know some of the players. Of all the teams in the Swedish Hockey League (Hammarby aren’t good enough to play there…) Luleå is my favorite.

Writing and Directing

Your article on meeting Jonas Stark and other writings are real favorites.  We love the self-deprecation, humor, and sincerity. You have a real gift of
expression. Is there any chance of you writing more?

Thanks. I still write and I often use my word program as a cheap psychiatrist.

Fandom

Did your own fan experience with Jonas Stark contribute to how you relate to your fans? We’re very thankful for the generosity and courtesy you’ve shown fans in encounters and interviews.

I’m thrilled that people have responded so to the show and my character. The least I can do is stop and sign an autograph or take a picture if someone wants it.

Personal

If you could only listen to three singers or bands for the rest of your life, which would you choose?

Van Morrison, The Clash, Ebba Grön

If you had lived as long as Eric, during what era of history would it have been the most fun to live?

18th century. Eric probably lived in France then…

True Blood

Which episode in season 2 of True Blood was your favorite to film?

9

Potential Future Roles

With which actors would you most like to work?

Daniel Day Lewis.

It is a hope amongst your fans that you and James Ransone will work together again, since your chemistry in Generation Kill was so outstanding, and your joint commentaries on the DVD were hilariously entertaining. Would you like the opportunity to work with him again? (We had jokingly conceptualized a “road trip” film similar to “Long Way Round” with Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman, only instead of motorcycles, you two trekked across America in a turquoise 1972 Chevy El Camino.)

Or why not a buddy movie like Butch Cassidy & the Sundance Kid? I love PJ (James nickname) and sure hope we’ll find another project sometime soon.

Many thanks to Mr. Skarsgård and his manager!

Alexander Skarsgard Gets Animated

05122010_AlexanderSkarsgardMetropia.jpg “True Blood” star Alexander Skarsgård has gained American heartthrob status as the show’s thousand-year-old Viking vampire Alex, but even if the role is clearly make-believe, the Nordic charm is all his. Son of famed actor Stellan Skarsgård, the Stockholm-born thespian has a long and storied career in his homeland, from becoming a child actor to being named the sexiest man in Sweden circa 1999. Not to be confused with his upcoming part in Lars von Trier’s highly anticipated sci-fi flick “Melancholia,” Skarsgård the younger’s latest project is director Tarik Saleh’s highly stylized, animated sci-fi flick “Metropia.”

Set in a dystopian world of the not-far-off future where the world’s resources are running out and the metro system connects all of Europe, “Metropia” concerns a newly paranoid Swedish everyman Roger (voiced by Vincent Gallo) as he begins to hear a voice in his head that isn’t his own. In fact, it’s Stefan’s (enter Skarsgård), a company man who begins to have second thoughts about his government gig monitoring citizens and their inner thoughts. While on the set of “True Blood,” now shooting its third season, Skarsgård called me to talk Glögg parties, filthy cartoons, and his real-life stint as an anti-terrorist marine. Alexander Skarsgard has a simple rule when it comes to dates: Focus on the girl, not the activity.

“I try not to plan it out,” the True Blood star, 33, told PEOPLE on Saturday at the Tribeca Film Festival premiere of his new movie Metropia in New York. “It has a tendency to get a little stiff and contrived if you work on it too hard. So, I try to be spontaneous.”

But surely a girl will appreciate going to a big event like, say, the Coachella music festival?

“It’s not about what you do, but who you do it with – that’s most important,” says Skarsgard, who has been linked with his Straw Dogs costarKate Bosworth. “If you are with someone who is awesome and having a good time, you can sit at a bus station and still have fun.”

Not only is Skarsgard spontaneous, he’s also comfortable in his own skin – a good thing, considering the amount of nudity onTrue Blood. The actor says he doesn’t remind removing his clothes, despite being teased about it occasionally by his five brothers and one sister.

“I’m not a prude at all,” he says. “I shot a very, very graphic scene two days ago with a man. I am from Sweden, and it’s different there. If it makes sense, I’ll just do it. And to me, so far, it’s made sense every single time I’ve got naked or made out on the show.”

One of Skarsgard’s favorite activities when he’s not on the set? Following the Hammarby soccer team from Stockholm, Sweden, where he grew up. “They are not very good but that’s my passion,” he says. “I try to go home a couple of times and go see them play … It’s a big thing for me.”
