It’s that time of year again!  We’re raising money for MSF/Doctors Without Borders in Alex’s honor. MSF was chosen by our forum members last year and we’ve chosen to continue our support, as we deemed it particularly important given the recent natural disasters and the continuing health concerns places such as Haiti face.  We know our donations will go where they are needed most.

We’ll be accepting donations from Nov 1- Dec 17th.  The widget above is connected to the Library’s Paypal account. Paypal does collect a small fee from all donations made through the widget (3%). You can avoid the fee by donating directly to the Library’s Paypal account:

1. Log in to paypal.com
2. Select Send money and then click the Personal Tab
3. Click gift radial button
4. In the recipient box type: thelibrarians@alexanderskarsgardlibrary.com

All donations must be made in US Dollars (Paypal charges a small fee for currency conversion). Because MSF does not accept Paypal as a method of donation, the money collected through the Library’s Paypal account will be transferred to a debit card connected to the Library’s account and an online donation from the group will be made. An e-card will be sent to Alex’s manager notifying him of the donation made in Alex’s honor. We will post the online donation form and e-card in this thread on the forum once the donation has been made.

If you prefer to donate directly to MSF/Doctors Without Borders USA, you can donate through this link:

Not from the US? Here’s a link for their locations worldwide:

Alexander Skarsgard talks about vampires, Moomin and his Family.

Eric Northman is way the coolest vampire out of the current wave: Always calm except when the blood of his victims ruins his hairstyle.
The blond giant in the U.S. series “True Blood” (the third season airs on Nov. 4, Thursdays at 8:15 PM on SyFy) twisted the heroine Sookie Stackhouse’s head. Hard to believe that Alexander Skarsgard will be the one who plays the cool villain: The 34-year-old Swede is more like a two-meter puppy than a nasty bloodsucker. Although his voice sounds very rough after half a day full of interviews he is still willing to tell is about his role, his family and about shooting with guts (literally).

msn: You not only play the role of the ancient Viking-Vampire Eric, but you have given your voice for the movie “Moomins and the Comet chase”.
Alexander Skarsgard: (smiles) That’s right. And I am both, Eric and the Moomin.

Generation Kill alum Jon Huertas teases us that we might get to see Alex guest star on ABC’s Castle this season.

Jon Huertas also hopes to find a part for real-life pal, True Blood‘s Alexander Skarsgard. “We were going to offer him a role in this next episode that we’re filming, but he’s in Hawaii working on Battleship and the role just wasn’t the perfect fit,” Huertas says. “But he wants to work on the show.”

“Lykkelig over nakenscener”

VG Nett

Los Angeles (VG)
As opposed to Stephen Moyer who plays Bill in True Blood, Alexander Skarsgård (33) has never objected to nude scenes.
Not that one would think it was any problem for co-actors Stephen Moyer or Anna Paquin, after the new edition of Rolling Stone was released. All there are naked there, smeared in blood.
The creator of the series, Alan Ball, likes the picture a lot. He does not understand the prude vampire stories like Stephanie Meyer`s Twilight series.
- To me vampires are sex, he says to the magazine.

Nude scenes
And when VG meets the tall, blonde, Swedish Alexander who oozes of sex in the role as Eric Northman, he explains:
- Nudity has never been a problem for me and it`s totally fine as long as it fits the show. You understand that I`m obviously thrilled about doing it if you notice how often it happens in the series. It wasn`t even hard in the beginning because I`ve been naked before, Alexander Skarsgård smiles and refuses to comment on the rumors about a love scene with a werewolf in the series.
No one talked about sex when Stephen Moyer (Bill Compton) grew up and he tells VG that nudity was hard in the beginning.
- I`m from a small village and it wasn`t like in Scandinavia where they have sex education in school. No one talked about it anywhere. But now we`re so used to dropping out clothes in the show that everyone is completely relaxed and not as reserved as in the first season. This is supposed to be sexy and we have to tell the story the best way we can. Read the rest of this entry »

Alexander Skarsgard Gets Animated
May 12, 2010

IFC.com

05122010_AlexanderSkarsgardMetropia.jpg “True Blood” star Alexander Skarsgård has gained American heartthrob status as the show’s thousand-year-old Viking vampire Alex, but even if the role is clearly make-believe, the Nordic charm is all his. Son of famed actor Stellan Skarsgård, the Stockholm-born thespian has a long and storied career in his homeland, from becoming a child actor to being named the sexiest man in Sweden circa 1999. Not to be confused with his upcoming part in Lars von Trier’s highly anticipated sci-fi flick “Melancholia,” Skarsgård the younger’s latest project is director Tarik Saleh’s highly stylized, animated sci-fi flick “Metropia.”

Set in a dystopian world of the not-far-off future where the world’s resources are running out and the metro system connects all of Europe, “Metropia” concerns a newly paranoid Swedish everyman Roger (voiced by Vincent Gallo) as he begins to hear a voice in his head that isn’t his own. In fact, it’s Stefan’s (enter Skarsgård), a company man who begins to have second thoughts about his government gig monitoring citizens and their inner thoughts. While on the set of “True Blood,” now shooting its third season, Skarsgård called me to talk Glögg parties, filthy cartoons, and his real-life stint as an anti-terrorist marine. Moomins hang in there — in 3D
Beloved local characters get a digital makeover
May 12, 2010
By GUNNAR REHLIN
Variety

With an all-star Scandi voice cast and enhanced by stereoscopic 3D digital animation, the Moomin family is ready to continue its conquest of the world via the bigscreen.

Created by Finnish author Tove Jansson in 1945, the Moomins are trolls who look like hippos. Through seven novels, a string of comic books and various TV series, the Moomins have become well known worldwide. They even have their own amusement park near Finland’s coastal city of Abo.

Cannes will host the world preem of feature “Moomins and the Comet Chase,” helmed by Maria Lindberg and produced by Tom Carpelan for Filmkompaniet.

The voice cast is headed by Swedes Stellan and Alexander Skarsgard, Peter Stormare and Max von Sydow. Icelandic rock star Bjork wrote and performs the title song. Carpelan hopes to bring as many as possible of the participating celebs to Cannes for the premiere party.

Carpelan says the film has nothing in common with the Japanese TV series of the 1990s.

“Our film is based on the animated Polish TV series of the 70′s that Tove Jansson herself was involved with,” he adds. “We have all the rights to this material, and we remade it all and remastered it in 3D. We decided on 3D several years ago and had no idea there would be a 3D boom. I could hug James Cameron.”

The old TV series had no dialogue, just a narrator. New dialogue was written for the feature, and Carpelan opted for high-profile Scandi voices for the English version. Stellan Skarsgard voices Moominpapa while his son Alexander plays Moomintroll, Stormare voices Snufkin and von Sydow is the narrator.

With the Moomins already familiar to kids around the world — the books have been translated into over 40 languages — there’s no shortage of merchandising tie-ins. However, “the owners are very keen on keeping their integrity,” Carpelan says. “We were given a free hand, but knew that with this came a lot of responsibility.”

The film will be sold in Cannes by NonStop. Scandinavia is already in the bag with Nordisk handling distribution in Finland, Norway, Sweden and Denmark.
